Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation TrustHelena Specialist Nursing Team & Ryegate House37.5 hours per week covering a 7 day a week serviceSecondment opportunity for 6 months with a possibility to extendAre you a band 5/6 Nurse looking for a challenging new experience or wanting to develop new skills within paediatric nursing Do you have 1 years post qualification experience in caring for childrenAn exciting/development opportunity has arisen to join The Helena Specialist Nursing Team & Ryegate House as a Band 6 senior staff nurse. Both services care for children with neuro-disabilities and complex needs either in the community setting (home or school) or within the respite house.The post offers the opportunity to learn skills in all areas of caring for children who have complex health needs, including tracheostomy care, parenteral feeding and ventilation. The service also provides palliative and end of life care to patients and their families under the direction of a lead consultant.As a band 6 Nurse working within the service you will need enthusiasm, motivation, ability to work both within a team but also autonomously, and have a commitment to providing a high standard of clinical practice and care to our patients. He/she will have experience of co-ordinating a ward area, line management, mentorship and staff /family support.Excellent communication skills will be required with all members of the MDT, Social care, schools, parents/carers and the CCG to ensure we provide holistic care to all our patients.As a band 6 Nurse you will be required to provide leadership, support, education and training to colleagues, junior staff, students and parents/carers who are caring for children in a community/respite setting. The successful candidate will be required to manage their own case load of patients and provide information and clinical care to help prevent hospital admissions.The service needs a band 6nurse who maintains professionalism and who takes pride in the care they give to the patients and their families. Knowledge of a robust clinical governance structure is essential and experience of implementing new policies and procedures into the work place would be advantageous.The team are looking for a nurse who can offer commitment to the service with a flexible approach and a drive to move the service forward, as well as being dedicated to their own personal and professional development.Car owner with a current driving license is essential.For more information please contact Sally Bolsover , Community Lead Nurse.
