Job Description

Due to continued growth and expansion, we are currently supporting the recruitment of a business-critical role for our client and we are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Senior IT & Infrastructure Engineer to join their team.As Senior IT & Infrastructure Engineer you will have the responsibility for supporting, administering, and troubleshooting core IT systems across our UK customer base.You will also be tasked with designing and the implementation of new technologies and solutions.The role includes the management at a project level of key projects for our clients customer base. This could take the form of network deployment, removal of on-premise systems and migration to the cloud or a cloud-to-cloud migration amongst other things.The role will be flexibly home based, with requirement to sometimes work from the Sheffield head office, as well as the potential for overnight stays across the UK.You will work alongside my clients Lead to ensure the highest level of uptime, service and customer experience. Acting as an escalation point for the helpdesk (1st & 2nd line support) you will find each day varied with the opportunity to increase your knowledge (hands on or through support in job training). You will have a keen eye for detail and a wide range of experience which you can demonstrate across multi-company and larger networks.Key Responsibilities include:

  • Support and maintain both on-premises and cloud IT infrastructure to ensure maximum up-time, including monitoring server and network performance and security systems.
  • Manage Projects / implementations across their larger customers networks and sites.
  • Acting as a third line escalation point for the Remote Support team as well as their valued customers.
  • Provide technical expertise and assist with the continued management and administration of their customers networks and systems.
  • You will be required to provide out of hours escalation support (This can include weekend coverage) on a rota basis and from time to time as the role requires.
  • Review and propose ongoing opportunities for Technical improvement across customers systems.
  • Be involved in scoping, designing and implementing new technologies either on customers premise or in the cloud (Azure / AWS).
  • Project management responsibilities with a focus on risk analysis and adherence to best practice to ensure a smooth and seamless customer experience.
  • Coordinate and work with third party IT service suppliers as and when required.
    • Required Knowledge and Experience:
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role working with core technologies (Microsoft Server OS, Active Directory services, Multi-site and/or multi-company deployment of technologies)
  • Experience in managing and administrator large network estates and associated technologies (routers, switch stacks, internet links, security appliances etc.)
  • A strong understanding and demonstrable practical experience of server technology and hardware, including virtualization (Hyper-V or VMware) and deployment / build.
  • Strong understanding and practical experience of implementing and administering Microsoft Azure solutions, Microsoft Office 365 and associated cloud technologies.
  • Very strong understanding of AD, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and other core technologies.
  • Experience of implementing and ongoing management of wired and wireless networks including TCP/IP, routing, switching, firewalls, VLANs.
  • Excellent practical and problem-solving skills.
  • A full UK driving Licence.
    • Desirable Knowledge and Experience:
  • Exposure and experience of Amazon Web Services.
  • Experience of GSUITE for business with associated products desirable.
  • Experience of Linux and Apple OSs preferred along with any management of these products across a network.
  • CISCO qualifications in relation to routing, switches and firewalls.
  • Fortigate Firewalls - management and administration.
