Job Description

RLB offers a range of Building Consultancy services one of which is Fire Consultancy. Our fire consultants proactively manage and undertake surveys, formulate designs and specification, provide fire strategies plus other bespoke services to ensure our client’sestates remain well maintained and achieve their potential in terms of fire safety management. We provide inception to completion services throughout the life cycle of built assets including; fire strategies, retrospective fire strategies, clerk of works,design review, fire integrity surveys, remedial works specification and project and programme management. We pride ourselves on the quality of the service we provide to our clients and aim to enjoy long term working relationships.Within ourFire Safety team, we have an experience group of people experienced in the delivery of a wide range of fire safety services. In addition to the service we deliver directly to our clients the team provides support to the wider business both regionallyand nationally on all things fire.Due to a prolonged period of increased demand we have upskilled our internal team to support this service. We are now at the stage where we need to recruit additional full time team member to support the service. We are a sector focused business activelyoperating and investing in Commercial, Data Centre, Residential, Education, Healthcare and Retail clients and projects. Surveyors work in close contact with the client, advising them on financial and legal matters that arise during the project.Overview of Role:We are currently recruiting for a Senior Fire Consultant/Fire Risk Assessor,to join a client focused team within our Leeds or Sheffield office.This is an exciting opportunity for a high calibre individual to join and strengthen our team. The role will be an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual to take responsibility for providing fire consultancy services from within our existing team.Key Responsibilities:

  • To carry out assigned duties efficiently and in accordance with processes and procedures
  • Comply with established procurement/commercial/contractual strategies
  • Take personal responsibility for complying with Environmental, Health, safety, Security and Quality Standards.
  • To support business objectives of delivering value for money in all circumstances
  • Professional Skills:
    • Fire Safety Management / Fire strategy involvement
    • To undertake fire risk assessments across a variety of property types ranging from residential, healthcare, custodial, education and commercial
    • To undertake fire integrity / compartmentation surveys to identify breaches, proposed remedial repairs through to preparation of specification and design
    • To provide quality & technical monitoring on construction projects
    • To provide fire safety advisor role to assist our clients with their property portfolio
    • Ideally have good understanding of Approved Document B, Health Technical Memorandum 05-02, Building Bulletins, relevant British Standards
    • To review contractors’ proposals on construction projects and provide comment on suitability for the intended purpose
Person Specification:The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive approach to the role, and will be committed to delivering customer service excellence, with good commercial results. They will be passionate about fire safety and will strive to provide the upmost quality onevery commission.
  • Experience of undertaking Fire Risk Assessments
  • Sound knowledge of UK fire safety legislation
  • Accredited fire risk assessment qualification or equivalent would be advantageous
  • Strong technical delivery experience
  • Member of IFE / IFSM
  • Client facing, ensuring high standards of technical delivery
  • Able to build long-term relationships
  • Experienceof working with teams and prioritising workloads and delivering deadlines
