Job Description

Senior Employment Specialist - Good Work Skills Temporary - 5 month contract - Full TimeCan you empower someone to make positive long-term changes to their livesFollowing expansion, we have an exciting opportunity for two individuals to join our Good Work Skills Team as community based Senior Employment Specialists.As a Senior employment Specialist you will provide individual support to customers, faced with barriers into employment, to gain sustainable paid work. You will feel comfortable working from a base within the South Yorkshire area, covering areas such asSheffield, Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham and across different projects in a fast paced environment.Who you are:We are looking for someone who has a previous educational / training background, particularly in one to one coaching and group work sessions. Holding an academic teaching or training qualification is not essential but desirable. A people centred approachto work and the local community.Our successful candidate will meet the criteria below:

  • Have previous teaching/training background
  • Support customers in a strength based, solution focused way
  • Be confident developing and delivering skills training in the local community
  • Have the ability to adjust plans depending on customer needs
  • Have excellent IT skills (Microsoft Office/Office 365 and Customer Databases) and can record information accurately
  • Experience of coaching team members
  • Possess an ability and/or passion to engage with employers to secure outcomes for customers and source opportunities
  • Hold a full valid driving license and access to a vehicle for work is desirable
  • Deliver employability coaching and other relevant training as required.
  • Provide specialist field mentoring to help improve employment specialists professional skills (e.g. observing sessions and providing feedback)
  • Experience in designing and delivering employment focused training
You will:
  • Manage a caseload using strengths-based coaching with customers with health conditions and any other barriers into work to enable them to secure and sustain employment
  • Build relationships with employers to understand their recruitment needs in order to source individualised employment opportunities for our customers
  • Work with employers to support their employees who are struggling due to their condition to thrive in the workplace
  • Work with health partners to provide an integrated, holistic employment service
  • Motivate customers, to ensure continual engagement and to ensure that customers are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to move into sustainable employment
  • We are supporting the team with their development by funding a level 3 Award in education and Training. If this would be beneficial to the right candidate the this is something we would happily accommodate too
Our 2 new recruits will take a lead role in one of the following key areas:
  • Designing and hosting area specific Employer, Skills and Development workshops.
  • Collaborating with employers to ensure our training offer addresses skills gaps, with a focus on emerging priority areas.
  • Collaborating with partners to strengthen support for specific groups of learners.

  • Starting Salary: £31,276 (plus Essential Car User allowance of £94.36 per month plus mileage expenses dependant on holding a full driving license and access to a vehicle)
