Role overview:As Senior Application Support Engineer, you play a critical role in leveraging Tes core business systems to support the overall strategic transformational goal of becoming a SaaS company. You report into the Head of Business Systems and act as a technical consultant to your manager where required. You are a "go to" person for particular business systems and may be expected to take on the role of technical lead in key business systems projects. As such, you balance BAU support with project work. You have a deep technical knowledge of systems and the landscape in which they reside at Tes. As a senior member of the Business Systems team, you lead by example and offer support to less experienced/technical colleagues in the team, where appropriate. Key role responsibilities: Technical expertise: Understand the applications in your area of responsibility, the overall system architecture in which they reside at Tes and how the business may benefit from said systems. System support/maintenance: Act as support engineer for dedicated systems, maintaining stability, security and balancing business needs. Manage incidents and requests effectively via the Service Desk. Documentation: If required, draft technical design and implementation documents to support the team or any project work. Data management: Migrating and mapping data across systems. Business analysis: Gather, define and translate business requirements into technical solutions. Act as technical lead on system-related projects, where applicable, delivering and/or coordinating the technical work stream. Knowledge sharing: Share technical knowledge with other team members and the wider business, eg for end user training purposes. Architectural knowledge: Maintain a deep understanding of how Tes business systems directly or indirectly interact with each other as well as the wider technical landscape at Tes, assessing the impact that work carried out in one system might have elsewhere. 3rd party relationship management: Manage and maintain working-level relationships with 3rd parties for specific projects and tactical changes. Do so in close collaboration with your manager. Risk management: Act as risk management champion for the systems you are responsible for, assessing how developments might need to incorporate additional elements to comply with best practices and mitigate risk for the business. Stakeholder management: Manage effective and trustful relationships with key individuals from across the business units. Reporting to management: Consistently provide transparent and timely reporting to your manager and/or project managers you are working with. The role is Sheffield based. Remote working is supported if compatible with the responsibilities of the role and agreed with your manager and team, once fully established in role.Education and experience requirements: 5-10 years of business system configuration, ideally with the following (or similar systems): Service Now, FreshDesk/Chat, DocuSign, Zuora, print management systems, NetSuite Working knowledge of SQL and JavaScript Strong interpersonal and communication skills Proactive approach "Can do" attitude Excellent self-management skills (time, prioritisation) Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure Single-Sign On (SSO) integrations Wide range of business system configuration experience Experience of migrating users from legacy to new Cloud systems Supporting less experienced/ technical colleagues Experience of working in technology (SaaS) or Education sectors, desirable Experience of integrating new cloud based systems via web based APIs, ideally RESTful APIs.
