SEND Teaching Assistant - EYFS/KS1 Pupils Autism November Regular work supporting pupils with barriers to learning. Including SEND, EBD, Autism, non verbal communication. (Potentially long term full time role supporting a select number of student with EDBand complex behavioural needs- potentially ASD.) Mostly across EYFS and KS1.Academics LTD are Seeking a strong experienced SEND Teaching Assistant Sheffield who is looking for regular and potential long term work in a Primary School (mainstream) setting. The role is to work with small number of key children with a variety of differentspecic needs.This role and opportunity will require you to support pupils with communication difficulties and emotional/behavioural challenges associated with their specific needs. Helping them stay calm, focused and engaged in learning. The provision is therefore seeking applicants that meet the following criteria:- You are warm, creative and open to learning with a patient and caring attitude to deal sensitively with vulnerable children.- You have a passion for supporting children with additional needs and a proven working history within a similar role or setting.- You have experience supporting students with SEND, challenging behaviour and communication difficulties, hearing impairments.- Experience supporting students that are non-verbal is advantageous but again not essential. - You are able to work proactively with the class-based team, using your own initiative as well as supporting the class teacher when needed but a lot of this role will involve 1-2-1 and small group sessions and interventions you will lead with planning andsupport in place. - You have experience working to and with EHCP. - You are willing to go above and beyond to support young people in their learning. - You will have an enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or the willingness to apply for one with Academics LTD).-Ideal candidate needs to be Level 3 trained in a recognised Teaching Assistant qualification. (open to Leve 2 if got Autism Awareness training and other SEND experience)Ideally hold or have Makaton and Team teach experience or training. Be familiar with positive practices around keeping the student focused and calm. Experience of working with KS1 and EYFS pupils.
