Academics LTD are Seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant 1:1 support Sheffield full time Easter long term opportunity. Helping local Education and training across Sheffield.Academics LTD South Yorkshire branch are working with an Good rated mainstream Primary School in Sheffield who are seeking SEN Teaching Assistants to work alongside a Y4 pupil with additional needs on a 1:1 basis from Easter 2021.This role and opportunity will require you to support a young child with communication difficulties and emotional/behavioural challenges associated with their complex disabilities and medical needs. The school is therefore seeking applicants that meet the following criteria:- You are mature, warm, creative and open to learning with a patient and caring attitude to deal sensitively with vulnerable children.- You have a passion for supporting children with additional needs and a proven working history within a similar role or setting.- You have experience supporting students with Downs Syndrome, challenging behaviour and communication difficulties, hearing impairments and medical needs including helping with feeding. PECS training or experience would be beneficial.- Experience supporting students that are non-verbal is advantageous - the child here uses Makaton for most of their communication.- You are able to work proactively with the class-based team, using your own initiative as well as supporting the class teacher - You have experience working to and with EHCP. - You are willing to go above and beyond to support young people in their learning. - You will be willing to work both 1-1 as well as with small groups within the classroom setting but the main role will be on 1-1 basis with this young learner. - You will have an enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or the willingness to apply for one with Academics LTD).-Ideal candidate needs to be Level 3 trained in a recognised Teaching Assistant qualification.Ideally hold or have PECS, Makaton and Team teach experience or training.
