Job Description

Job Title: Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SENTA)Location: Sheffield Secondary SchoolType: Full-time, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PMAbout Us: We are a vibrant and diverse secondary school located in Sheffield, dedicated to providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment for our students. Our school community is composed of students from various backgrounds,and we are committed to ensuring that all students have equal access to quality education. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SENTA) to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with a group of students who have additional educational needs, bothwithin the classroom and in breakout areas. Your patience, empathy, and calm demeanour will be essential in helping these students thrive in their learning environment.Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to provide support and assistance to students with special educational needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support as needed, inside and outside the classroom.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere that promotes students social and emotional development.
  • Monitor and record students progress and behaviour, reporting any concerns to the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) or classroom teachers.
  • Ensure a safe and nurturing environment for all students.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children and young people with special educational needs is essential.
  • A patient and calm demeanour is crucial for this role.
  • A Teaching Assistant (TA) qualification is not mandatory; however, relevant experience is highly valued.
