Job Description

Research Engineer – Up to £38,000 – SheffieldThe RoleAre you experienced in embedded application/system-level software development or related position/experience Opteran Technologies, an autonomous systems start-up, are looking for a Research Engineer.The successful candidate will work on rapid prototyping of new research to develop initial proofs of concept.The key responsibilities of a Research Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Rapidly advance prototypes through to initial commercial evaluation.
  • Use version control and documentation to manage project lifecycles.
  • Interface with pre-sales teams to support and respond to customer requests.
  • The CompanyOpteran moves beyond today’s Deep Learning AI to re-engineer 600 million years of evolution in insect brains onto a silicon chip.   • University Degree in Electronic Engineering, Control Systems, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Experience in embedded application / system-level software development or related position/experience.
  • A strong track record in collaborative project work including version control and agile / lean methodologies.
  • Experience in developing with embedded C from ground up OR extensive experience in similar programming environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to function effectively in a team.
