Job Description

Are you a Receptionist and seeking employmentSheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UKs largest, busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. We provide a full range of hospital and community services for people in Sheffield, as well as specialist care for patients fromfurther afield.We are seeking an Outpatients Receptionist to work for Sheffield Teaching NHS Foundation TrustThe role is based at Michael Carlisle Centre, Lyndhurst Road, Sheffield, S11 9BJThe hours are Monday - Friday 8.30am - 4.30pmThis is a Band 2 role paying £9.49 per hour and is initially for 3 months with possibility of extensionThe role involves working in a busy outpatients department. You will be dealing with face to face patient queries as well as telephone duties. An ability to pick up new computer systems quickly is needed, as well as being able to work well in a fast pacedenvironmentDuties to include:

  • To ensure the provision of an efficient and confidential administrative service for the ARC reception
  • To be responsible for meeting and greeting patients on arrival and for registering their arrival at reception using System One
  • To be first point of contact for the building ensuring visitors/ contractors sign in as appropriate and all records relating to the building are up to date and accurate
  • To undertake admin duties as delegated by the ARC Building Operational Lead or the ARC building Operational Coordinator
  • Answering external/internal telephone enquiries from professional staff and members of the public ensuring accurate information is captured, recorded and passed onto the appropriate person(s) in an efficient and a timely fashion
  • Administrative duties including scanning, photocopying, filing, sending faxes, taking messages for clinical staff, organising meetings and sorting of mail
  • Escorting patients to specified locations
Person specification:
  • Communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Previous administration experience
  • Professional and friendly approach
  • Organisational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Comfortable speaking with people from a variety of different services
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Understanding of data protection issues and the ability to maintain confidentiality
