  • Starting on £31,644 per annum, pro rata
  • 37 Hours per Week (Monday to Friday)
  • 50 / 50 working from home / in the office split
  • 27 days holiday, plus 8 bank holidays, plus 4 SYHA days at Christmas, Easter, Spring and August Bank Holiday (all pro rata). The leave year runs from 1st April to the 31st March.

More about the role:
  • In this role you will deliver a modest Fabric First retrofit programme to improve the energy efficiency of our homes. At the same time you will be improving the asset data to ensure funding ready projects in line with SYHAs corporate objectives.
  • Reporting to the Programme Lead (Sustainability), the post holder will work across a wide range of business areas and Sustainability issues at SYHA. Currently the key focus is gearing up to retrofit our homes to achieve Net Zero Carbon performance at scale.Youwill support work on the technical and financial aspects of this work, and importantly engage with our people and our customers.
  • Beyond the retrofit challenge you will also have a chance to get involved in and make a difference in other key areas such as our newbuild home programme and our corporate activities such as travel, energy efficiency, procurement and waste.
Main Tasks:
  • To project manage the delivery of good quality fabric first programmes in accordance with the Associations objectives and asset management strategy, through all stages from inception to final account, acting in accordance with procedures and guidance publishedby SYHA and funding authorities, and to fulfil the client function in the procurement of new homes.
  • To be the Domestic Energy Assessor for retrofit projects (training given).
  • To ensure that all audit & funding requirements are met. This will include ensuring PAS2035 standards (training given).
  • To liaise with customers, internal clients, voluntary, statutory, and non-statutory agencies in accordance with agreed procedures, to ensure neighbourhood opportunities are identified and harnessed.
  • To assist the Programme Lead in identifying funding opportunities and support in the preparation of bids and submissions.
  • To investigate and evaluate new energy saving measures for our homes and our operations.
  • To represent SYHA at meetings with local authorities, and other potential partners, promoting the organisation positively whilst maintaining good work relationships.
  • To liaise with other key members of staff involved in projects to ensure consistency of approach
Other Features of the job:
  • Attendance at evening meetings is unusual, but where required time in lieu will be granted.
  • Motor transport is required. An Essential Car Used Allowance is payable.

  • Walks the walk and can drive forward Sustainability at SYHA whilst remaining sensitive to competing priorities, to deliver workable and effective solutions on the ground.
  • Has a relevant qualification in the field of Environmental, Sustainability science/management, and/or, a significant track record working in this sector.
  • You have great organisational and observational skills
  • Youre a completer finisher that ties up all loose ends
  • Youre passionate about customer service
  • You enjoy solving problems in a fast paced environment
  • Youre a self-starter that is happy working alone and in teams
