Job Description

This VacancyThe successful candidate will contribute to the effective corporate leadership and management of the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) by:

  • Helping to create a culture for the NIHR BRC underpinned by an ethos of continuous improvement
  • Promoting the BRC through own actions and visibility in the NIHR BRC and with key internal and external partners
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the BRC and wider STHFT and TUoS to facilitate the achievement of objectives and shared learning.
  • The post holder will assist the BRC in the management of a portfolio of clinical studies and support the clinical trials team. As part of their overall job duties, the successful applicant will work with the BRC’s Clinical Trials team to: enable Chief or Principal Investigators to complete submissions for regulatory approval for BRC studies; ensure that patient recruitment meets the 30 day recruitment target and that the studies run in accordance with all applicable regulatory requirements. The post holder will also be responsible for the production of study promotional/administrative material, answering of queries and resolving any technical or administrative barriers to participation.Other key responsibilities will include supporting the BRC Manager with BRC operational projects and processes to ensure the sustainability and growth of the BRC.About UsThe NIHR Sheffield Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) is focused on the pull-through of developments in the fields of Neurodegeneration, Neuroinflammation and Cerebrovascular disease into early phase clinical trials. Research in these areas is supported by cross-cutting themes of Advanced Medical Imaging, Genomic Medicine and Bioinformatics, The Sheffield NIHR Clinical Research Facility and in silico medicine. The NIHR Sheffield BRC brings together outstanding scientists from the University of Sheffield Departments of Neuroscience and Engineering in multidisciplinary research institutes SITraN and INSIGNEO together with clinical disciplines at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to improve the treatment and care of people living with chronic neurological disorders. Clinical Research projects will take place in conjunction with the Academic Directorate of Neuroscience at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and will be supported by the NIHR Sheffield Clinical Research Facility.Who we are looking forIf you enjoy variety, working in a fast paced environment, have a flexible approach to your work, and would like to be involved with researchers who are committed to advancing treatments and care pathways for patients with specific health conditions then please apply.
