Job Description

Compass Life Sciences are exclusively supporting Europes leading provider of Medical Imaging and Radiopharmaceutical diagnostics, to support the search of talented Production Radiochemists for multiple positions onsite at their state-of-the-art facility near Sheffield. In this, the fastest growing part of the organisation, this is a fantastic opportunity to play a crucial role in the development and manufacture of life saving radiology diagnostics technologies. The Production Radiochemist positions operate on a rotating shift pattern to support a 24/6 operation, so all candidates must be happy to undertake a range of shift patterns including nights, and have their own means to travel to site at times when public transport may not be available. THE ROLE As a Production Radiochemist, you will work on a wide range of projects and processes, to support the production of Radio Isotopes used within medical diagnostics across the UK and Europe. In this position you will support a range of areas and have responsibilities and duties that will see you engaging with the latest technology and to the highest of Regulatory, Quality, and Compliance standards. Production Operate and maintain protocols for the manufacture of F-18 and Tc-99m for the Radiopharmacy chemistry laboratory including the synthesis of standard F-18 PET and Tc-99m SPECT tracers in strict adherence to GMP and relevant EU pharmacopoeia standards.Operate routine protocols for customer orders and distribution of 18FDG, other PET tracers and Tc-99m to sites. Ensure efficient performance of, and undertake first-line maintenance of, the Synthesisers, Dispensing Equipment, Hot Cells, including dose calibration, within the context of strict application of environmental and clean room protocols.FaultsMaintain records of faults on any dysfunction - operational, equipment or environment integrity. Interpret and rectify operational faults where possible and indicate where the engineer or contractor should be called.Quality SystemsDevelop, implement and manage cGMP, and Quality Assurance systems and procedures for all aspects of Radiopharmaceutical production of standard PET and SPECT tracers.Principal Operator/TimetableOn a rota basis, act as Radiochemist for radio-synthesis of PET and/or SPECT tracers in accordance with a pre-determined daily timetable.Chemical PreparationOrdering of stock, preparation of chemicals required for routine radiochemistry production, etc. and the safe disposal of waste chemicals and materials.Skills in RadiochemistryDevelop necessary skills to provide relief and rota support to radiochemical laboratory technician/s with specific reference to the functions of:Production of RadioisotopesSafety and ControlAssume responsibility for the safe and efficient handling of all radioactive substances (solid, gas, liquid) received from the Centres cyclotron including their synthesis, transmission, dispensing, storage, containerisation, packing, despatch, transport, decay control, and release. In accordance with local rules for emergency or serious incident procedure record such events in accordance with SOPs.Responsible for following agreed safety procedures to ensure safety of yourself and others.RegulatoryStrictly adhere to GMP, GLP and safety protocols laid down by the MHRA, EA and HSE in accordance with issued licenses as determined from time to time. Corresponding adherence to local rules developed by Alliance Medical Radiopharmacy in conformity to such licensing requirement.REQUIREMENTS To be considered for this role our client is looking for a passionate Chemist or Biologist that has experience in the production of Radiopharmaceuticals. You will have a strong understanding and experience working within GMP environments and be familiar with these regulations, as well as having experience with aseptic procedures.
