Job Description

Job Title: Production ManagerType: Ongoing ContractSalary: £200-£300 per dayLocation: SheffieldHours: Full Time (Mon – Fri, 8:30 – 5:00, No shift work)Are you an experienced Production Manager looking for a new challenge with a leading European importer, wholesaler and superfood brand.Our clients are searching for aProduction Manager will be overseeing the full production process from start to finish (labelling, de-boxing, blending, packing, weighing, sealing, coding and boxing) in our medium-sized hand packing operation. You will be responsible for managing and reviewing relevant documentation, systems and processes relating to the Food Safety Management Systems (HACCP & BRC Food Standard), supporting the wider site in the continuous improvement of efficiency, quality and food safety standards, while ensuring a clean and safe work environment.Your responsibilities:

  • Monitoring performance and motivating staff to achieve daily and weekly targets.
  • Creating a positive team environment which produces products safely to the highest quality, the lowest cost and ensures that line efficiency targets are met.
  • Supporting the Planning Manager to develop the capacity plan.
  • Working with cross-functional teams (Planning, Warehouse and Technical) providing the necessary support they require.
  • Ensuring that all equipment is functioning correctly and that all staff are adhering to site standards. • Managing HR related issues such as time and attendance, disciplinaries, training, recruitment and staffing levels.
  • Giving clear instruction and direction to production operatives.
  • Onboarding of new staff.
  • Managing the relationship with external staffing agencies.
  • Developing a good factory food and hygiene culture based on a solid understanding of BRCGS food safety and quality standard requirements.
  • Maintaining product traceability and documentation, and complying with the company’s Quality Management System procedures and policies.
  • What would make you stand out:
  • Hands-on experience of leading production teams within a food environment. Success in this role will be strongly influenced by your people skills.
  • Experience of working in a target-based environment is essential. We have a great team ethos but incentivise based on individual performance with processes set up to facilitate this.
  • Experience working in a BRC food environment with exposure to HACCP.
  • Proven ability to manage projects and deliver within set time scales.
  • A robust and flexible attitude with an ability to deal with competing and sometimes contradictory expectations.
  • A “can do” attitude with an openness to change.
  • The confidence to implement change and manage personnel.
  • What skills do you need
  • Good IT skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel).
  • Excellent communication skills; written and verbal.
  • Good problem-solving skills with a solutions-focussed approach and technical mindset.
  • Practical understanding of cleaning and hygiene requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of food manufacturing, specifically packing.
  • Understanding of LEAN manufacturing would be advantageous.
