Our vision is to be the worlds leading applied university; showing what a university genuinely focused on transforming lives can achieve.DescriptionTo provide high level specialist advice and direction in relation to procurement decision making; manage a category group, providing support and appropriate resourcing to senior stakeholders across the University on procurement, commercial contract and supply-chainmatters. To work collaboratively as part of a local management group, ensuring operational excellence and consistency of practice with procurement activity. Engage with stakeholders across the University to delivery procured outcomes to meet strategic aims.

  • Contribute to service development and innovation; review and implement policies/ procedures and, standards for the area; analyse and interpret management information; undertake benchmarking and incorporate customer feedback mechanisms to deliver continuousimprovement.
  • Working collaboratively across professional services, to ensure consistent and high-quality service provision; lead and participate in internal/external networks and communities of practice; lead and provide influence on project/ working groups and meetings.
  • Embody the Universitys values both within and outside the organisation, role modelling behaviour and encourage equality, diversity and inclusion. Promote equality of opportunity and diversity in the provision of relevant services.
To manage the provision of support and delivery of processes within Procurement, considering wider implications across professional services and taking into account nature, timing and impact across the academic yearFor example:- Category management including market knowledge building, benchmarking and data analysis- Determining options appraisals and making recommendations for preferred routes to market- Managing preliminary market consultation- Managing tender processes to meet a wide variety of stakeholder requirements - Leading stakeholder management, as appropriate - Undertaking inclusive evaluation processesProfile
  • Experience of managing one or more categories within a public sector procurement environment (e.g. construction, services, IT and software)
  • Experience of working effectively in an environment of complex regulations and procedures
  • Experience of managing procurement-focused projects
  • Experience of carrying out a range of highly complex legislative, administration activities
  • Experience of leading or supporting the development and dissemination of policies/ standardsExperience and/ or knowledge in first line supervision
  • Experience of providing expert advice and guidance to senior managers and internal/external stakeholders to support decision making, including commercial negotiation
  • Experience of letting commercial contracts for the supply of goods services and/or works
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages
Job Offer
  • Basic Salary between £38,205 - £42,978
  • 30 days annual leave plus an additional 6 extra days on top of the normal 8 bank holidays for extended university closure days

  • Hybrid working. The team currently work 1-2 days per week on site
