Job Description

Pre-Sales Field Application Engineer – Up to £60,000 – SheffieldThe RoleAre you an experienced Field Application Engineer Opteran Technologies, an autonomous systems start-up, are looking for a Pre-Sales Field Application Engineer.The successful candidate work closely with the commercial team to understand customer requirements, pains and issues and communicate a clear articulation and understanding of the Opteran technologies, differentiation and fit.The key responsibilities of a Pre-Sales Field Application Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Support field sales activities in delivery of our quarterly and annual commercial targets.
  • Lead the technical relationship with key customer stakeholders, presenting as the lead technical authority. Be the ‘go to’ person for technical knowhow, queries, issues.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customer technical and business teams to understand their business and technical needs, and ensure a clear understanding and fit for Opteran technology, to support the project.
    • The CompanyOpteran moves beyond today’s Deep Learning AI to re-engineer 600 million years of evolution in insect brains onto a silicon chip. This breakthrough enables machines to see, sense, navigate and make autonomous decisions with a smaller, lighter and more efficient solution that operates off-network without training.This is a different approach to autonomy, which doesn’t succumb to the problems of machine learning. We reverse engineer real brains to produce autonomous systems that are robust and hyper-efficient; we call this approach ‘natural intelligence’.www.opteran.comThe PersonThe key skills and qualities of a Pre-Sales Field Application Engineer include:
  • University Degree in Electronic Engineering, Control Systems, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Experience in Field Application Engineering, Application Engineering, or experience in another customer-facing role of at least 5-7 years.
  • Experience in embedded application / system-level software development or related position/experience.
  • Experience in developing with embedded C from ground up OR extensive experience in similar programming environment.
  • Experience in team software development including version control and agile methodologies.
  • Silicon chip (CPU, GPU, FPGA and ASIC) knowledge and experience.
  • Knowledge of AI and neural networks .
  • Experience integrating sensors, actuators, and embedded compute to create novel robotic systems.
