SheffieldFull-time and permanentSalary dependent on experienceAbout the organisationBhayani Recruitment is working in partnership with a forward-thinking and well-established firm of solicitors specialising in care proceedings to recruit a Paralegal specialising in family care proceedings. Our client have many years of experience workingwith people that are facing difficult family issues and really puts its employees first. This role will suit someone with some experience in care proceedings looking to carve out their legal career in an environment committed to training and development.Role OverviewThe successful candidate will undertake research work for multiple cases, prepare legal documents and provide legal advice to clients. You will be expected to carry out office administration, including billing and writing letters, organising diaries, schedulingmeetings and responding to telephone queries, writing first document drafts, such as contracts, and proofreading documentsWhat does the day to day look like

  • Producing Notice of Issue, Notice Acting and Delegated Functions on all opened files where applicable.
  • Managing correspondence and telephone queries.
  • Arranging appointments and attending new, current and former client meetings to deal with their queries to allocate work to other fee earners.
  • Attending clients at Courts, Branch Offices and other locations as necessary.
  • Maintaining an effective diary systemcourt dates, limitation dates and timetables set by court/tribunals.
  • Producing documents under the supervision of a nominated Supervisor.
  • Attending meetings as requested by Fee Earners.
  • Supporting Fee Earners to move cases forward.
  • Obtaining and reviewing evidence and statements.
  • Liaising with Counsel, Medical Experts and other professionals.
  • Ensuring efficient day-to-day progress of all matters, prioritising work as necessary and keeping the client informed on progress.
  • Preparing files, ensuring all documents and financial information is in place.
  • Recording all work carried out accurately and appropriately on the firms Case Management System.

  • Personable and able to build relationships
  • Experience & qualifications
  • Experience in family law/ child proceedings
  • Law degree desirable
