REED Engineering & Manufacturing are working with a leading Engineering & Manufacturing company .Operations ManagerThe Operations Manager will foster and promote a culture of continuous improvement, in line with the overall business objectives. This is achieved through the utilisation of leading-edge manufacturing tools and techniques that will deliver best practiceacross labour, equipment and systems while meeting customer requirements.• Promote employee engagement strategies and enhance team collaboration • Planning, scheduling and reviewing workload to ensure production output, quality and on time delivery targets are achieved cost effectively • Overall plant improvement relating tokey metrics – safety, quality, OTD, OEE and profitability. • Monitor product quality and take immediate corrective action, when necessary. • Implementation and adherence to Health and Safety procedures encouraging "safety first" culture.• Lead employee development initiatives within department. • Monitor the marketplace for availability of new technologies to improve production safety, quality and efficiency. • Drive initiatives across the organization that delivers Manufacturing Excellenceand a continuous improvement culture while improving operational systems, policies, procedures and standards. • Develop and implement an Operations strategy to deliver long term productivity and capacity improvements.• Develop systems and processes that track and optimise productivity and standards, quality and performance targets to ensure effective return on investment. • In partnership with Purchasing, work with outside suppliers to increase quality/value of raw materials.• Work with Finance to ensure department stays within budgetary requirements. • Maintain a positive and constructive relationship with the sales team. • Hire, train and supervise Production staff. • Develop the competency of the manufacturing team to providethe necessary capability to meet current and future needs. • Effectively manage labour requirements/manpower planning, production planning, stock management, plant modifications and develop innovative systems and processes utilising all available technology• Conduct performance appraisals and provide input on annual salary reviews.• Externally, the Operations Manager will develop effective working relationships with senior colleagues at other sites across the group and will liaise with relevant machinery and raw material suppliers and customers as required. • Work closely with theGeneral Manager and other members of the senior team to continually develop strategies to meet and further develop the overall operational, financial and commercial objectives of the business.Experience of managing a Team of between 10 – 13 reports and indirectly up to 100 people • Experience of working within manufacturing at Production Manager level or above (minimum of 5 years experience)• A strong preference for and good understanding of, machine shop experience, CNC Milling, Turning, Routing. • Knowledge of Preventative Maintenance /TPM. • Knowledge of engineering and technology principles and practices, tools and machines. • Knowledgeof practical application of quality systems accreditation and standards.
