- Title: Metallurgical Laboratory Technician- Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire - Salary: £19,000 - £22,000 + Overtime + Benefits - Working Hours: Monday - Thursday (8am - 4:30pm) / Friday (8am - 3:30pm) Due to increased orders and organic growth Nicholas Associates Engineering & Technical are once again partnering one of our long-standing clients as they look to appoint Metallurgical Laboratory Technician to join their dedicated team.This is a world class facility with cutting edge technology, you will gain experience working alongside an experienced team partnering a number of blue-chip organisations in the Aerospace, Defence, Nuclear, Renewable Energy and Oil & Gas sectors.Duties:- Perform internal mechanical testing as required and to written procedure- Assist with problem solving on manufacturability problems as they relate to metallurgical or chemical matters- Perform light maintenance on laboratory equipment where required or report problem when out of capabilities- Preparing sample pieces for test requirements- Perform internal chemical analysis- Metallographic preparation- Heat Treatment- Sand Testing- Photomicrography- Corrosion Testing- General SEM operationRequired Skills & Experience - Materials Science / Metallurgy or Materials based qualification is preferred but not essential- Experience of metallurgical testing/ sampling in a production environment preferred - Good problem-solving skills, analytical approach with good numeracy and literacy skills - Ability to work to deadlines - Ability to work in a team and as well as on own initiative - Able to follow processes and procedures to remain compliant with standards specifications Whats on offer - Working hours; Monday - Thursday (8am - 4:30pm) / Friday (8am - 3:30pm) - A basic salary of £19,000 to £22,000 based on experience - Paid Overtime (Mon - Fri, Time and a Third), (Saturday, Time and a Half) and (Sunday, Double Time)- 22 + 8 Holidays - Increases with length of service- Pension- Life Assurance- Free ParkingIf you are interested in the Metallurgical Laboratory Technician role, please apply as soon as possible as interviews are due to take place within the coming weeks.
