Job Description

  • You will be required to manage and maintain waiting lists, patient target lists and theatre lists. To arrange theatre cancellations and reductions in line with Trust policy, to meet local and national targets, and communicate to patient and other stakeholders.
  • You will be the main point of contact for patients, consultants and other service users ensuring full service is provided.
  • Using MS Office applications, provide an accurate, high quality and complete secretarial service including word processing, filing, audio typing, photocopying, uploading/downloading of voice files and the composition of letters.
  • To manage own workload efficiently and effectively. Make decisions pertaining to the smooth and efficient running of the department acting independently but where necessary referring problems to the Secretarial and Scheduling Manager.
  • Be able to work with a degree of autonomy, which comes from experience.
  • Work to objectives as set by the secretarial and scheduling manager and deliver the standards required.
Youll learn the following whilst working at the trust:
  • An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS.
  • Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times.
  • A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation.
Youll have the following skills/experience:
  • System Knowledge: Lorenzo, ICE, ORMIS
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Audio typing skills/Med Sec experience
