Job Description

New, Manufacturing Engineer position located in Sheffield, South Yorkshire with a Medium sized, manufacturing organisation. This is a Monday to Friday, Days Based position.Client DetailsLocated in Sheffield, South Yorkshire my client is a Medium sized, engineering and manufacturing organisation supplying custom made products worldwide. Due to planned expansion and company investment they are now looking to recruit a Manufacturing Engineerto join the Sheffield based team looking a custom-built machinery and process improvements.DescriptionAs the new Manufacturing Engineer, you will report directly to the Engineering Manager where you will develop and implement new and existing manufacturing processes and procedures to enhance productivity while maintaining product quality standards. You willalso coordinate the operational excellence agenda, identifying opportunities and leading projects to improve all elements of the site performance.Additionally, you will work in conjunction with cross-functional teams, including Production, Procurement, Logistics and the Quality team to optimize production workflows and resolve technical issues.Keyt Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize manufacturing layouts, optimize work areas and workflow sequences to improve output.
  • Review customer drawing requirements and identify process routes and design a wide variety of work-holding tooling.
  • Liaise closely with external toolmakers and suppliers to ensure tooling arrives in accordance with the project timeline.
  • Identify and implement innovative LEAN manufacturing solutions for process improvements, cost and waste reduction.
  • Provide direct process and machining support to the shop floor areas to create, improve or troubleshoot component preparation/ assembly/ machining operations.
  • Perform root cause analysis for production-related issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Assist in detailed PFMEA studies to help identify key process risks and introduce adequate controls.
  • Create and maintain documentation, such as work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and manufacturing documentation.
  • Assist in the introduction of new products through prototype phase (NPI) to production readiness.
  • Provide technical expertise and training to production teams to ensure compliance with established processes and quality standards.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in manufacturing engineering.
ProfileTo apply for the Manufacturing Engineer position located in Sheffield, South Yorkshire you will have/be:
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Engineering or a similar technical discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role, preferably within a manufacturing field.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to coach and influence at all levels.
  • Good planning, project management and facilitation skills.
  • Flexible approach towards working hours is essential.
Job OfferYou will be employed on a permanent contract working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. You will earn a highly competitive yearly salary with good progression opportunities.
