Job Description

I am currently recruiting for a versatile locum lawyer with a can do approach to work on behalf of my client, a leading public sector organisation based in Sheffield. This role will be on a work from home basis.You will be providing legal advice and support on all aspects of special education needs including but not limited to decision making, policy and procedure.As the successful Lawyer you will:

  • Have a good technical knowledge and experience in special educational needs
  • Be able to manage a varied caseload of SEND Tribunal appeals, including advocacy in case management hearings and final hearings in the First Tier SEND Tribunal, with minimum supervision.
  • Conducting of legal proceedings before the courts and tribunals
  • Provide legal advice and support to enable the local authority to fulfil its Statutory and strategic functions
  • Interpret and apply new and existing legislation and policies
  • Continuously develop the quality of legal services provided
  • Support and/or mentor colleagues and team members to achieve best practice as required
Skills/Experience required
  • Must be organised and able to work under pressure with minimal supervision while still being a valuable team player.
  • As advocacy is required, to be successful you will need to be solicitor, lawyer, a legal executive or a barrister.
