Lead VB6 Developer - Contract, Outside IR35Location & Duration: Remote ; 6 Months Initial (Extensions possible up to 2 years)Our client is a leading insurance provider in the life and healthcare sector. They provide a platform for people to Bolt On other insurance provider products into one centralised system alongside their own insurance. This will be part of the rebuild of afragile and critical system that houses all the data for their insurance services. If this goes down, people will no longer be covered and premiums can no longer be paid.There is a current team of 2 developers that you will be brought in to lead. They are working on retraining new talent into VB6.You will be working to maintain the key legacy business software and applications working in conjunction with other developers and partners to deliver against the company strategy. These legacy applications need to be maintained and managed to ensure thatthey continue to support the business as a replacement platform is developed. This will involve managing the existing risks and ensuring all current processes are fully documented and understood.Experience were looking for:* Knowledge of VB6 windows forms development.* Working understanding of Visual SourceSafe.* Understanding of legacy VB.Net applications.* Experience of Oracle PL/SQL. Agile experience Familiar with SQL-Server and MySQL an advantage. Knowledge of working with RESTful/JSON web services and XML. Experience of preparing and coordinating the use of development and testing environments.Desirable: Understanding of the software development lifecycle. Passionate about clean code and software development practices. Should be competent with .NET/ ASP.NET and familiar with developing applications utilising MVC, Entity Framework, Web API Should be competent with JQuery and Bootstrap. Experience of source code control systems and tools such as TeamCity, BitBucket, TFS, Azure DevOps and GIT.
