Job Description

Job Title: JoinerJob reference: 62830We are currently recruiting for a number of Joiners within a leading University in Sheffield. These are key role within the University and will be on a temporary to permanent contract.Maintenance Joiner will undertake joinery/carpentry repairs and maintenance work, to an agreed level, in compliance with industry standards, statutory requirements, and relevant codes of practice in a professional and customer-focussed manner.The post-holder will work across the University Estate, within domestic, industrial and educational buildings; using electronic devices for receipt and completion of work instructions.Duties will include: Interact with the supervisory team and assist in the effective delivery of a quality cost Carry out a range of work including but not limited to:

  • Resolve queries and requests for information and advice and escalate more specialist and complex queries or issues to more experienced team members, completing the appropriate electronic and/or hardcopy work orders.
  • Identify priorities and monitor processes and activities to ensure success.
  • Organise and schedule resources, including stock control.
  • Apply technical knowledge and skills to build, adapt, construct and repair fabric, fittings, buildings, services and equipment using new and existing resources, including standard woodworking plant and joinery/carpentry equipment.Manage and monitor theuse of components, resources and equipment.
Interact with the supervisory team on a day-to-day basis and assist in ensuring all work is carried out in an efficient, cost effective, transparent and safe manner to the highest achievable standard Responsible for ensuring that all associated paperwork issued in conjunction with the job/project is completed and returned to the appropriate supervisor for processingEssential skills / qualifications:
  • NVQ or City and Guilds in Joinery
  • Full UK driving licence desirable
  • Commercial experience
