BPC’s long-term vision is for more home-grown and fully funded high growth companies to fulfil their potential to be players on the global stage. Our investment programme backs venture and venture growth funds, and co-invests selectively in our UK-based portfolio companies.As an Investment Analyst you will work with the BPC team in managing its existing portfolio of over 50 fund investments and support Investment Managers and Senior Investment Managers on new investment proposals. You will be expected to work across the range of activities of BPC, working with investment colleagues based in the Sheffield and London offices, and liaising with legal, risk, finance, and external advisors. The team offers excellent exposure to the venture capital ecosystem, and an opportunity to gain experience in the analysis and transaction of fund investments.As part of this role, you will assist in the due diligence process for potential new investments, undertake macro analysis of sectors, financial analysis and modelling, benchmarking against industry data, and in-depth analysis of areas such as track record, team dynamics and investment strategy. Additionally, you will manage and report on the work in progress pipeline for the BPC programme, including maintaining the Customer Relationship Management system, as well as manage the portfolio management process, ensuring that the contact and company databases are up to date, and information is received on a timely basis for quarterly portfolio meetings, as well as assisting with the portfolio reporting.You will assist in the analysis and reconciliation of financial information, including fund reports and accounts, in some instances working with the funds to achieve this, assist with the marketing activities of the programme and support with BPC related events. You will undertake research into sectors and the venture capital market, assimilating and presenting the data for both external use in marketing/communications collateral and internal reporting to senior members of the team and for due diligence purposes. You will be working with internal teams, Legal, Risk and Finance throughout the investment process to ensure delivery and on portfolio management matters, preparing reports and analysis on the portfolio, and providing support across other areas of the BPC business as required.It will be essential that you have experience of working in a commercial, banking or finance environment, either full-time or as part of an internship, demonstrate a degree of financial knowledge/experience or a willingness to learn, and have good operational knowledge of Microsoft Office software. You will have experience in analysing datasets, experience of working flexibly in a team environment to deliver required results, experience in effective verbal communication and in producing concise comprehensible written reports, and evidence of good organisational ability.Ideally, you will have demonstrable interest in technology and venture capital, and experience of building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and customers.View the full job description.ABOUT US The British Business Bank is a unique and exciting institution.
