Job Description

Housing Officer (Income Management)Temporary - 12 months, Full Time - 37 HoursWe have an exciting opportunity for a Housing Officer in the Income Management Team in Landlord Services. The vacancy comes at an important time as we try to embed a new approach and processes in the team. The role plays a key part in ensuring that we sustaintenancies and maximise income within our business. You will be working with a great team of staff and it will offer a great development opportunity for someone.Job Description

  • Salary - 4B/C £31,276 - £33,510 per annum, pro rata
  • Working hours - 37 hours per week Monday to Friday flexi time
  • 50 / 50 split between working from home/in the Sheffield office
  • 27 days holiday, plus 8 bank holidays, plus 4 SYHA days at Christmas, Easter, Spring and August Bank Holiday (all pro rata)

More about the role:You will be responsible for the collection of rents mainly from our Livewell client groups. The Housing Officer will be responsible for the sign up of new tenancies and ensuring they are loaded onto the internal housing system within a specified time scale.The Housing Officer will report directly to the Income Management Team Leader and work closely with the other team members in the Income Management Team.The Housing Officer will make decisions and recommendations on cases to the Team Leader and Income & Lettings Manager, recording & collating statistical and other information.Managing SYHA tenancies and ensuring that tenancy conditions are adhered to including preparation for and representation of SYHA in any legal proceedings.Who you are:The post holder should be:
  • Committed to the delivery of outstanding customer service
  • Have excellent digital skills (Microsoft excel,word, able to transact online)
  • Self - motivated, with a can do positive attitude
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate well with a wide range of people
  • Ability to demonstrate a positive and flexible attitude to working in a changing environment
  • Knowledge and experience of housing law and current housing issues alongside knowledge of benefit and welfare reform legislation
  • Experience of debt and income recovery, including non-legal and legal remedies
  • Ability to negotiate
  • The ability to follow established policies & procedures
  • An understanding of the client groups that our projects work with in SYHA
  • Commitment to personal development and learning
  • Experience of dealing with difficult situations and remaining calm under pressure
  • Be responsible for building strong working relationships with internal and external partners such as DWP and housing benefit departments
