Job Description

Clipper Logistics is one of the leading retail fulfilment businesses in the UK, with ability and agility at our core, our cutting edge operations allows us to provide world class customer service to customers such as John Lewis, River Island, Marks & Spencer and PrettyLittleThing.comThis is a fantastic opportunity to join our Sheffield site within a Health & Safety Management role, leading H&S for one of our largest sites!What is the purpose of the roleTo ensure that the site is compliant with all H&S regulations and is working within the Clipper h7s framework, providing support and advice to Operational Management to reduce the risk of accidents in the workplace. To ensure the control of the physical appearance and maintenance of the site and equipment in use at the Sheffield facility.In this role you are accountable for:

  • Having a full and in depth understanding of the Groups H&S framework and how this fits with the Company and site H&S plans.
  • To ensure that the site is compliant with all relevant acts to ensure basic facilities are in place such as water fountains and toilets and lockers.
  • To understand the standards, measures and scoring system of the Group H&S auditing process, to include all reporting mechanisms for accident reporting including RIDDOR.
  • For organising and chairing with the GM a local H&S committee made up from a representative group across each shift which mustmeet monthly.
  • To attend daily operational meetings with the Operations to report on accidents and H&S related incidents or workers on site undertaking essential maintenance.
  • To manage and organise the control of waste packaging materials in line with Clippers environmental standards and any restrictions that in place within the customers packaging regulations.
  • Undertake regular and periodical inspections of buildings and the facilities including car parks and LGV yards and warehouse doors.
  • React to and take immediate actions to resolve unforeseen events such as leaks or damage caused by employees or vehicles to the building or fittings within the facility.
  • To work with the GM and Operations Managers to identify ways to reduce loss of stock and other security related incidents.
  • To understand and take proactive steps to minimise the impact of waste packaging and comply with either the customers or Clippers waste packaging regulations.
  • To work in conjunction with the HR & Training Manager to ensure adequate numbers of first aid / fire marshall and manual handling trainers are in place.
  • Required skills, knowledge and experience:
  • Must be IOSH qualified
  • The ability to demonstrate a structured approach to scheduled activities
  • Pro-activity is valued in using initiative and seeking ways to constantly improve standards
  • To be PC literate, particularly with Microsoft Office
  • Be able to work unsupervised and be able to prioritise tasks
  • An effective communicator both internally and with contractors, highlighting where appropriate issues and areas for improvement.
  • Ability to create & deliver presentations to customers and senior teams
  • Ability to influence and negotiate at a senior level
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to interact and engage staff all levels
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement with a can-do attitude
  • Practical knowledge of current H&S legislation policies and procedures. Including control of external facilities and maintenance workers
