Job Reference Number: UOS031538Job Title: Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) CoordinatorContract Type: Open ended subject to fundingWorking Pattern: Part time working 28 hours per weekFaculty: Faculty of EngineeringDepartment: Translational Energy Research Centre and Sustainable Aviation Fuels Innovation Centre, in the Department of Mechanical EngineeringLocation: TERC, Sheffield Business Park, Europa AvenueSalary: Grade 6 - £27,116 - £31,406 per annum (pro-rata), with potential to progress to£34,304Closing Date: 14th February 2022Looking for a role which is actively contributing to tackling climate change Want to work with world-leading, cutting-edge technology Two sustainable energy research centres based at the University of Sheffield are looking for a health, safety, environmentand quality (HSEQ) coordinator to join our team.The Translational Energy Research Centre (TERC) and the Sustainable Aviation Fuels Innovation Centre (SAF-IC) are brand new innovation-focused research centres based at the University of Sheffield Innovation District.TERC is one of the largest and best-equipped zero-carbon energy, hydrogen, bioenergy, CCUS and combustion pilot-scale research and development facilities in Europe. SAF-IC is a bespoke research centre for the development and testing of sustainable aviationfuels which is the first of its kind in the UK. SAF-IC will also act as a clearing house to help producers and users of sustainable aviation fuels approve their products for application.You will be responsible for HSEQ at these two world-leading pilot-scale industrial plants, which house equipment including carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) rigs, waste to energy equipment, a hydrogen electrolyser and a sustainable aviationfuels testing engines.In return, we offer a competitive salary, flexible working, a generous pension scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development. This role is part-fundedby the European Regional Development Fund.TERC and SAF-IC are both part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund.Skills Experience in a health and safety role in the energy/chemical sectors or industry. NEBOSH General Certificate or NVQ Level 3 in Occupational Health and Safety. IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management or similar and a recognised qualification in quality management. Previous experience of ISO 45001 (or ISO 9001 or ISO 14001) management system.Duties & Responsibilities Contribute to the annual plan, policy and strategy for HSEQ. Maintain the legal register and ensure continuing compliance. Develop, implement and maintain the HSEQ management systems. Provide advice, support and assistance to colleagues regarding HSEQ issues. Assist and develop risk assessments and safe systems of work with colleagues. Assist with supplier pre-qualification assessment. Identify and organise training for the team and ensure training records are up to date. Monitor the annual plan, safe systems of work, incidents, etc. and prepare reports. Manage the inspections and audits programme. Ensure complaints, near misses and accidents are recorded and assist with investigations and reporting.
