Job Description

Elevation Recruitment Group are working with a global energy business who are looking to add a senior hire into their IT team. This is an onsite role based in the Head office in Sheffield. You will also be required to travel to multiple sites in the region.This is a truly exciting time to join this business for an experienced and strategic minded Head of Infrastructure. We are seeking an experienced and strategic-minded person to lead the network and infrastructure teams. As the Head, you will be responsible for overseeing the 1st and 2nd line support teams, ensuring the security and integrity of the technical infrastructure,acting as a bridge between the Head of IT and your support teams, also providing operational insight to the Head of IT. You will work closely and alongside the Head of IT Projects to ensure all relevant tasks are implemented in a timely manner. As part of your role you will:-

  • Lead and manage the IT first and second line support teams , including recruiting, training, mentoring, and performance management of the teams.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organizations network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize network performance, enhance system availability, and streamline infrastructure operations.
  • Collaborate with the Head of IT in defining and implementing technical security measures, policies, and procedures to safeguard the organizations data and systems.
  • Act as a bridge between the Head of IT and IT support teams, ensuring effective communication, coordination, and alignment of goals and objectives.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance and support to the teams where needed, particularly during critical incidents or complex problem-solving scenarios.
  • Monitor and analyse operational metrics, including workload, ticket statistics, and resource utilization, providing insights and recommendations for improvements.
  • Identify and propose future infrastructure projects, upgrades, and optimizations to enhance system performance, security, and reliability, where necessary consulting with third party suppliers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, operations, and security teams, to ensure seamless integration and alignment of network and infrastructure components.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in network and infrastructure management, and make recommendations for adoption where appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices related to network and infrastructure security and operations.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation within the network and infrastructure teams.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a proven track record in a senior leadership role with a strong technical background in technical engineering. You will need to have experience in leading and managing IT support teams as well as an in-depth knowledge of network infrastructure design, implementation and management including LAN, WAN,VPN and cloud technologies.
