Job Description

With every engineering project theres a new and exciting challenge, as Head of Commercial youll work along side our diverse and talented team to provide strategic commercial and contractual support, enabling the project teams to deliver customer requirementswhilst maximising profitability and minimising risk.Why SCXOur talented team have been at the forefront of the most ambitious and challenging design and engineering solutions. We design, build, commission and maintain bespoke mechanical, electrical and hydraulic engineered solutions to solve complex lifting andmoving challenges for structures, materials, and people.Our global reputation is built on the back of many iconic projects, here are just some of them.Kinetic architecture:

  • Retractable roofs for Wimbledon Centre Court and No.1 Court
  • The worlds first dividing and retractable pitch at Tottenham Hotspur
  • Stadia Projects in Japan, Hong Kong, and Europe
  • Infrastructure projects, including moveable bridges, flood defences and rail
Nuclear & Defence:
  • Nuclear energy at Sellafield, Magnox, Dounreay, EDF and Urenco
  • Defence nuclear submarines with Babcock, BAE, and Rolls Royce
  • Defence surface vessels including the Queen Elizabeth Class carriers and other Royal Navy vessels
What Youll be doing
  • Work closely with and manage key stakeholders to deliver profitable solutions ensuring that commercial risks are highlighted, mitigated and governance is followed.
  • Work alongside project teams to develop and maintain commercial and contractual awareness of all projects.
  • Support project teams to formulate, progress and manage Early Warning Notices and Compensation Events until closure.
  • Review proposed terms and conditions, contract setup and contract negotiation for new prospects/contracts
  • Provide contractual, and commercial advice to all departments
  • Provide strategic reporting of project status and commercial risk registers on a monthly basis for the CFO.
  • Working with project teams, help manage programme and/or commercial issues and risks to ensure Liquidated Damages or other liabilities are not levied.
  • Provide project governance to ensure project teams are working in accordance with client terms & Conditions and with SCX policies and procedures.
What were looking forTo be successful in the role you will have a high level of commercial knowledge and can communicate effectively, leading internal and external stakeholders in commercial matters. You will also be able to demonstrate:
  • Commercial awareness and attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of NEC Contracts preferred
  • Proven negotiation & contract management skills/knowledge
  • Able to effectively communicate with senior managers and negotiate with external clients/suppliers
  • Experience of working in a senior commercial and/or project management role in a fast moving, multi-project environment
  • Experience of managing clients and suppliers
