Job Description

I am currently recruiting for a handyperson on behalf of my client, a leading public sector organisation based in Sheffield (S7).We are looking for a handyperson to work at our Care Leavers sites at Upper Albert Road in Sheffield.You will work City wide with Care Experienced young people from the point that they are successful in securing their own tenancy.We work closely with partners to increase the range of options and have recently developed 6 new trainer flats. This a new service model and an exciting opportunity to deliver services to Care Leavers in a holistic way offering semi-Independent accommodation,to young people aged 16+ who have high support needs, including service users with complex needs.Your duties will include:

  • To carry out a range of minor repairs to building, furniture and equipment.
  • Working with housing ensuring flats are ready for young people.
  • Supporting young people with household maintenance and decorating and providing a point of contact for young people for advice about household maintenance.
  • To carry out general maintenance of grounds in all weathers.
  • Maintain information logs, and repair logs where appropriate.
  • To provide domestic and cleaning support when required.
To be considered for this role, you will have:
  • Have an understanding of Health & Safety issues including fire, legionella and asbestos management.
  • Ability to carry out routine repair and maintenance jobs in the home and to undertake routine checks on the minibus.
  • Ability to carry out a range of minor repairs to building, furniture and equipment, and to undertake redecoration when required.
  • Ability to carry out routine cleaning tasks to a high standard.
