An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Generic Healthcare Assistant (GHA) to be part of the Community Intermediate Care Service (CICS) within Active Recovery.CICS is integrated with our Health and Social Care colleagues within the Short Term Intervention Team (STIT) and together we are Active Recovery (AR). AR-CICS provides an inter-disciplinary approach to support people in the community through a health crisis, avoiding unnecessary admission to hospital and supporting patients to leave hospital earlier by providing care and rehabilitation at home. This role involves the Generic Healthcare Assistant working with a team of Generic Assessors (Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapist’s) by contributing to the initial assessment process and autonomously reviewing patients. This diverse role will also require the successful GHA(s) to provide short term input to acutely ill or recently discharged patients in their home environment; with tasks including identifying and fitting appropriate equipment, monitoring the acutely unwell and making onward referrals to other services. This post will require the GHA to have strong clinical and communication skills and will appeal to GHA’s who enjoy the rapid turn around of patients in crisis.CICS is an interdisciplinary team consisting of Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Rehabilitation Assistants, Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Speech & Language Therapists, Mental Health and Admin Staff. Experience of working in an inter-disciplinary team is desirable.A generic training programme is provided to ensure competency in general observations, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and medications administration.CICS is a citywide service operating from the Northern General Hospital. CICS Assessment Team currently works from 8am-2am, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and you will need to be flexible to work variable shifts within these hours. For further details / informal visits contact:Akanksha Prakash-KayEmail: Tel: or 30 78100
