Elevation Engineering & Manufacturings Machining and Fabrication Division has been exclusively retained to manage a recruitment campaign for our prestigious client Orchid Orthopedic based in the heart of Sheffields manufacturing community. Orchid Orthopedic Solutions is a worldwide leader in design and manufacturing for the orthopedic and medical device markets, including joint reconstruction, spine, trauma, sports medicine, extremities and dental. With 14 world-class facilities located around the globe, Orchid continues to provide others an opportunity to live a better life through the products, services and the way the company conducts business. Their Sheffield facility based off the Sheffield Parkway comprises a Forge, Foundry and CNC Machining and Finishing processes. It employs approximately 230 people and focuses on joint reconstruction, in particular knee and hip joints and also the instruments required to fit the medical device parts. They currently have a number of roles available within the Forge and although experience in these areas would be an advantage, they are also looking for enthusiastic individuals who are eager to learn and develop a career within this industry. They are looking for individuals with experience or a desire to work in the following roles; Forge Mount Point: * Using small pencil grinders and other handheld finishing equipment to remove surface defects from the face of the forgings * Keen eye for detail is required for this role to ensure a high precision finish * Experience is not necessary but would best suit an individual from an Engineering/Manufacturing background This role could operate on a 3-shift system working 1 week of morning shift, 1 week of afternoon shift and 1 week of night shift although it currently operates on 2 shifts. Forge Press Operator: * Setting up and operating of forge presses, 200T, 600T, 1300T & 1600T * Experience is vital for this role as the individual will need a sound knowledge of changing dies, clipping, operating furnaces and machine operation. This role operates on a 3-shift system working 1 week of morning shift, 1 week of afternoon shift and 1 week of night shift. Forge Ancillary: * Forge Ancillary experience is preferred for this role as the individual will need to build a sound knowledge of forge processes and procedures * Using lathes and saws to cut billets to length * Off hand grinding belts to remove flash and defects * Loading blast machines, heat treatment furnaces and external rumbling procedures * Must be aware of strict health and safety policies * Must be able to work to procedures and follow processes This role could operate on a 3-shift system working 1 week of morning shift, 1 week of afternoon shift and 1 week of night shift although it currently operates on 2 shifts.
