Job Description

SIG Plc. is a leading supplier of specialist building materials to trade customers across Europe with strong positions in its core markets as a specialist distributor of insulation and interiors products and as a merchant of roofing and exteriors products.We are currently looking to recruit a commercially driven Category Manager on a 13-month fixed term contract, to proactively provide support our SIG Roofing business, developing, influencing, negotiating and maintaining a universal way of workingacross all business units to maximise efficiency.What does the role involveAs a Fixed-Term Category Manager, you will collect and analyse data measuring category performance and provide the business categories with necessary reports and analysis. Youll manage suppliers in order to continually improve stock availabilityand consistency of product specification, as well as looking to maintain the integrity of pricing of the Company in its markets, establishing product process and ensuring that sales and profit targets are achieved, whilst developing the product range to meetthe needs of the customer. You will need to be pro-active and creative in suggesting and influencing trading, marketing and commercial initiatives and will focus to maximise gross profit through effective negotiation with suppliers, in line with company expectations.The successful candidate will require:

  • Specific roofing knowledge would be great, but experience of the construction industry is also advantageous
  • Demonstrable experience within a buying, category or product management environment within a construction background would be preferable
  • Strong, negotiation skills, with the ability to strategically influence, with great organisational skills
  • An understanding of data and report analysis, in addition to being numerate and possessing excellent IT skills
  • The ability to move at pace with exceptional stakeholder management skills and the drive and ambition to succeed
  • Assertiveness, with the ability to communicate at all levels with a good understanding of the business and industry
