Job Description

Finishing Manager (NDT and Inspection)Key DetailsWork hours: 37 hours per weekLocation: Hillsborough, SheffieldJob type: Permanent, Full-timeIndependent Forgings and Alloys (IFA) is one of Britain’s leading independent aerospace and industrial forgers. The unique feature about IFA is the combination of open and closed-die forging while also undertaking the whole production process from raw materialto the finished product in one location. Operating from a 680 000ft2 facility in Sheffield, we manufacture high-integrity, open-die and closed-die forged components in nickel alloy, titanium, stainless steel and carbon alloys for customers and tier-one supplierswithin the aerospace, nuclear, power generation, marine as well as oil and gas sector.Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for managing a team that completes operations at final stage of production (NDT, Inspections).
  • Setting the day to day activities of department alongside the departmental supervisor.
  • Managing production targets and KPI’s for the finishing departments.
  • Dealing with absence, disciplinaries, recruitment and PDR’s and other management tasks of this team.
  • Inputting and exporting data, and managing teams use of the data system to meet the expectations of the planning department.
  • Improvement projects.
  • Working alongside the employee to create working templates and deal with queries.
  • Working alongside other departments.
  • Maintaining appropriate standards in Health, Safety and the Environment for this department.
Skills and ExperienceEssential:
  • Appreciation and working knowledge of NDT.
  • Appreciation of final and intermediate inspection of forged products.
  • Working knowledge of technical documentation.
  • Experience of working in a high integrity quality controlled environment.
  • Management experience and dealing with large teams.
  • Management of KPI’s and hitting targets.
  • Good IT Skills.
  • Flexible, pro-active and self-motivated approach to work.
  • Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Good interpersonal relationships skills.
  • Excellent communication and liaison skills.
Desirable:
  • Previous or actual qualification in NDT disciplines.
QualificationsEssential:
  • 5 GCSE’s A-C (or equivalent), including Maths and English.
  • Management qualification.
