We are looking to recruit a Employee Relations Advisor to work for our client based at S5 area of Sheffield on a ongoing full time basis, 37.5 hours per week.The role will commence on 01/03/2021 JOB PURPOSETo support senior employee relations staff in the provision of a specialised, responsive and consistent service to care groups and corporate directorates. This service will focus on employee relations matters, terms and conditions of service and related workforce initiatives through a business partner model. To work within Trust policies/procedures and employment law under supervision, but at times autonomously, taking advice from senior colleagues as required.ROLE OF THE DEPARTMENTThe HR Directorate comprises Human Resources, Medical Personnel, Learning and Organisational Development and Occupational Health Department together with management of the Trust nurseries. The directorate purpose is to support, advise and train managers to achieve and maintain a proactive and engaged workforce, that is appropriately resourced and skilled to deliver the Trusts objectives and values through the most cost effective means.MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESOperationalo To provide timely, consistent and appropriate advice and support for managers on a range of employee relations matters (specifically, disciplinary, grievance, sickness absence and attendance, capability, bullying/harassment). To assist managers in suspension meetings, and support the investigation into allegations relating to disciplinary, grievance or harassment cases and support with the completion of all associated documentation. To provide support to managers in preparing any reports/case presentation and assist panels in consideration of evidence associated with disciplinary, grievance, capability and harassment issue. Provide support to managers in presenting and hearing appeals against dismissals and other sanctions.o Support the business partner model to reduce and manage sickness absence by providing a comprehensive service to managers relating to sickness absence for any directorates identified, including covering for colleagues as appropriate. This includes attending sickness meetings, preparing and checking confirmation letters and Occupational Health letters and supporting and providing managers with advice in appeals against sickness management and referring employees for termination of contract. In addition, assisting panels in consideration of evidence.o Provide advice/information to line managers/staff in relation to all human resources policies and best practice ensuring consistency of application throughout the Trust.o Maintain an awareness of employee relations KPIs ensuring cases are managed within KPI and performance standards, highlighting complex/problem case issues to the HR Manager.o To support and advise managers in providing consistent and appropriate advice on interpretation and implementation of terms and conditions of service, taking advice from senior colleagues where necessary.o To assist in undertaking grading reviews in accordance with the local and national job evaluation system and match/evaluate new posts as they arise in line with the partnership working principals underpinned within the Agenda for Change Job Evaluation system.o Provide advice on job evaluation, re-grading requests and formulation of job descriptions seeking advice and guidance from senior colleagues where necessary.o Following the HR Guide to Redeployment, assist in the redeployment of employees liaising with the Resourcing Team to ensure successful redeployment, undertaking the role of case manager where necessary.o Support the business partner model by identifying innovative HR solutions to facilitate achievement of their local and Trust objectives, sharing best practice with colleagues for use across the Trust.o To liaise with Payroll Services and managers regarding matters of pay in relation to ER issues, such as half pay notification, termination salary details and where necessary participating in the overpayment of salary procedure connected to employee relations matters.o To contribute to the promotion of good employee relations within the Trust by developing working relationships with recognised members of trade unions and staff associations.o Ensure that knowledge of employment law is kept up to date and attend development sessions as appropriate.o Support senior colleagues and the Learning and Organisational Development function in devising and providing policy and procedure coaching/training to departmental managers as appropriate. o Where requested, represent the Human Resources Department at directorate meetings on specific issues relating to the role.o Support the HR Manager in providing a comprehensive induction and ongoing training to new members of staff/trainees/work experience students. o Utilise computer packages such as Microsoft Office and the ESR payroll system to inform and update the current situation with regard to employee relations issues.
