Job Description

I am now working exclusively with a small manufacturing business, located in Sheffield who are looking to recruit an Electronics Engineer. This is a Permanent, Days Based Position, and would be ideal for any junior engineers looking for that next step intheir career. My client will offer training, development, and support.Client DetailsLocated in Sheffield my client is the worlds leading manufacturer of lighting products, offering the widest range of ATEX and IECEx certified explosion protected lighting and power distribution systems. They currently employ around 55 members of staff witha strong, stable history supplying into explosive atmospheres worldwide. My client is committed to continuing to lead on legislative compliance for all products we sell in the UK, the EU and around the world.DescriptionAs the new Electronics Engineer, you will be based at the Sheffield manufacturing facility reporting directly into the Development Manager who will offer training and support. This will be a very hands-on position and will require someone who is not afraidto get their hands dirty. You will support new product development, evaluation and troubleshooting of electronic subassemblies of lighting products manufactured by Wolf and its sub-contracted electronics resources.Main Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute testing and evaluation of electronics with engineering peers.
  • Draw conclusions and make formal written recommendations for either further development or ensuring the quality of delivered samples.
  • Root cause analysis of failures.
  • Assessing & justifying component alternatives/suitability.
  • To address discrete component shortages.
  • Thermal assessment of circuits/designs.
  • Prototype assembly & limited rework.
  • Co-ordinating the control and distribution of electronic design information within documented procedures.
  • Issue BOM to suppliers.
  • Create failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) documents to support the approval of products.
  • Ensure design source files are complete and stored correctly.
  • Design changes and internal approval/release paperwork.
  • Co-ordinating with external design agencies and testing bodies.
  • Operate within a mixed discipline department, which sometimes requires you to operate outside of your core competence.
ProfileTo apply for this excellent Electronics Engineer Vacancy based you will ideally have some hands-on, manufacturing engineering experience within electronics or electrics.You will also:
  • Be able to work under own initiative as well as be an effective team member.
  • Work to procedures and timescales managing your own time to match business needs/priorities supporting multiple activities.
  • Maintain a simple overview (Kanban board) of workload & progress made.
  • Work diligently through a problem to find a root cause and then be able to communicate the findings clearly to other stakeholders.
  • Be able to summarise and draw conclusions from a complex dataset of investigations.
  • Willingness to learn about and operate within the requirements for producing equipment that is suitable for use in explosive atmospheres.
  • A flexible approach to work with a willingness to apply themselves to problems outside of their core competence.
Job OfferSalary will be between £25,000 and £35,000.
