The Surgery & Critical Care Division at Sheffield Children’s NHS FT provides a range of secondary, tertiary and national services for children, including all paediatric surgical sub-specialties, burns, theatres, critical care, acute and chronic pain as well as paediatric and neonatal transport.Following internal promotion within the Trust an opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and experienced manager to join the senior management team in the division of Surgery and Critical Care.Whilst having primary operational responsibility for Intensive Care, High Dependency, the Neonatal Surgical Unit as well as EMBRACE the neonatal and paediatric transport service, the post holder will also take on key roles to support the Associate Director and Clinical Director in meeting a range of challenges faced by both the division and trust, working both within the division and across divisional and organisational boundaries.Core responsibilities will include leading on outpatient activity, service planning, development of business cases, service improvement linked to the Well Prepared Surgery transformation programme, contracting and workforce planning and management. The successful candidate will also be involved in clinical governance processes, complaints and working with the independence sector. Working with the Head of Nursing and clinical lead managers the post holder will have responsibility to ensure that services are delivered to the highest standards and continue to strive to be outstanding.The divisional team have a long and successful track record of supporting GMTS and has hosted trainees for many years. Developmental support for the successful applicant will be available and encouraged making the role ideal for someone wishing to progress their management career.Successful candidates will exemplify the Trust values and will have significant experience of managing all aspects of complex clinical services and delivery of challenging efficiency targets whilst safeguarding service quality.
