An award-winning firm with a huge presence in the Greater Leeds Area is looking to expand its Court of Protection team with an experienced paralegal in their Sheffield office.Client DetailsAs one of the leading specialist practices outside London, my client has embraced the modern era while upholding the traditions and beliefs which have marked the firm out as distinct from its peers in a crowded legal market.They are recognised as experts in their specialist areas and give practical, common sense, and technically excellent advice to their clients with whom they form valued long-term relationships.DescriptionCourt of Protection Paralegal -The role of the Floating Paralegal provides a valuable support to the Trust & Court of Protection Administration Team by dealing with clients, providing them with advice and undertaking day to day administration tasks for them. Floating Paralegals are responsiblefor their own work, managing their workload, prioritising and meeting deadlines. Floating Paralegals are members of a busy team, working with other colleagues and teams within the firm to provide a bespoke professional service to our clients. Working with clients and their families to achieve their objectives and balancing that up with the available funds. Clients often need help with care packages, property purchase and adaptations, budgets, benefits and a host of other issues which arise.The majority of our clients have been catastrophically injured.Working with management and other team members to ensure a comprehensive service is provided to clients. Covering for absent colleagues, on request, providing support and assistance to colleagues on request.Providing advice and support to clients in relation to their assets, income and expenditure.Managing clientsassets, including property, investments and cash.Liaising with clients, their families, professionals, colleagues in other teams within the firm and others, seeking appropriate guidance on complex issues from senior colleagues, in person,on the telephone and by correspondence.Making payments to, for or on behalf of clients, monitoring budgets, liaising with financial advisors in this regard.Arranging meetings, liaising with clients, their families, professionalsand other colleagues in this regard.Preparing for, and following up from, meetings with clients, their families and other professionals (with opportunities to attend meetings, with support, as necessary).Reviewing informationprovided by financial advisors, liaising with them as appropriate. Discussing investment recommendations with clients, Trustees, Deputies and other professionals, as necessary.Reviewing files regularly to maintain a high standard of care andsupport to clients.Maintaining computerised/software Trust and Court of Protection administration records systems.Maintaining and managing paper client files, record keeping.Preparing bills, considering costestimates, liaising with clients in relation to ongoing costs.Preparing cash reconciliation statements.Liaising with colleagues to collate information for annual tax reviews, arranging payments of tax where necessary.Keepingabreast of changes in legislation, Court of Protection procedures and Office of Public Guardian guidance relating to Deputy Standards for Professional Deputies and all other regulatory aspects by attending training provided. Profile Evaluation skills and the ability to think around an issue before making a decision.Accounts experience and/or Trust Administration experience desirable.Willingness to learn new skills.Ability to empathisewith the varying needs of our clients.Ability to communicate with people at all levels in all situations.Court of Protection ParalegalA proactive attitude and ability to demonstrate commercial awareness whendealing with potential risks to the firm.A caring nature.Ability to work effectively as a team member and equally well autonomously, with little supervision.Attention to detail.Ability toprioritise and meet deadlines.A professional outlook.
