Job Description

I am currently recruiting for a Council Tax Officer to work remotely on behalf of a local authority in Sheffield.Duties will be varied and include:

  • Accurately process all aspects of Council Tax work
  • Cover billing work such as new liability, discounts / exemptions
  • Changes of address
  • Collection of Council Tax
  • Reprofiling
  • Making suitable repayment arrangements
  • Recovery of debt
  • Input AOB, AOE, refer correctly to internal and external enforcement teams
  • Potentially some insolvency work
To be successful in this role you will:
  • Be of the mindset to maximise collection and recovery of Council Tax, but balanced with understanding the current economic climate and able to make correct decision on what is a suitable amount and timescale for arrangement
  • Have knowledge to signpost customers to maximise their income by means of claiming legacy benefits, discounts, hardship, support etc
  • Have good attention to detail and ensure resolution at the time of processing
  • Must have experience of Capita One Revs & Bens (previously known as Academy)
  • Ideally have used the system Information at Work before
