Job Description

Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a medical component manufacturer based in Sheffield, who are looking to welcome a Continuous Improvement Engineer into their growing Continuous Improvement team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a proven track record in leading Continuous Improvement projects and driving a positive culture, to join a fast growing business, who are on an exciting Continuous Improvement journey. As the Continuous Improvement Engineer you will:

  • Identify, plan and implement continuous improvement projects within the company, being mindful of H&S&E, cost benefit implications and productivity impacts
  • Train members of the organisation in the fundamental CI and Lean Manufacturing tools and methodologies
  • To facilitate kaizen and lean interventions across the sites
  • Ensure all Visual Management / Communication boards used for the PCC Meetings are kept current and reflect / measure performance at Cell level and have continued linkage to Management level PCC boards / KPI’s
  • Train, deploy and embed foundations for Continuous Improvement using a phased approach for the implementation of Workplace Organisation (5S / 6S) across the organisation
  • Review performance indicators (KPI’s) for each area and identify projects to introduce improvements
  • Identify any systems that are failing or missing and ensure that a suitable replacement is developed and implemented where necessary
  • Provide hands on support for project implementation
  • Complete a monthly report detailing the position of projects against budget
  • Carry out a presentation to senior management when necessary
  • Continually appraise global technological developments/advances that may be implemented to reduce manufacturing costs and improve process/product quality.
  • Support the Senior Manager Operations Excellence in the adoption of best practices as identified through theCI community
  • Generate / maintain project SMART Charts which scope project deliverables and benefits realised on all improvement projects and interventions
  • Support the creation of capex requests where appropriate
  • Support the Capex & NPI process to ensure that machines, equipment and revised processes introduced within the company guarantee product quality, safety, run times and improve the general environment. Liaise with the relevant department managers as appropriate
  • Where applicable challenge TPM and maintenance schedules to maximise current and future uptime liaising with the maintenance and production teams on any proposed changes
  • Instigate and manage the delivery of effective communication links across and within departments with regards to CI activities
  • Act as a champion for continuous improvement, managing manufacturing improvement activities in an open, enthusiastic and positive manner to encourage participation and development of a culture of continuous improvement at all levels
To be considered for the Continuous Improvement Engineer role you will need:
  • A degree in a relevant discipline or be apprenticed trained with a minimum of five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Green Belt in Lean /Six Sigma as a minimum / Ideally Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Must be able to demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Have a proven track record in a Continuous Improvement Engineer role, or a similar field
  • Be used to working in a fast-paced environment
  • Have a strong work ethic and charismatic personality
  • Experienced in the use of Statistical analysis software such as Minitab
