The services offered through Tes.com play a critical role in helping teachers and school leaders deal with the challenges of providing high quality education to millions of children across the globe.Role overview:The Commercial Finance Analyst role will work closely with all business leads serving schools (B2B sales) reporting directly to the Head of Commercial Finance.Key product areas include Recruitment, which has undergone a transformation from a purely transactional offering to the majority of revenue now being derived from digital subscriptions. Since launching subscriptions in early 2016, Tes now has recruitment subscription revenue of over £40m and continues to grow.The successful candidate will also partner with business leads of our Software products, which deliver SaaS based solutions to schools in the form of CPD, safeguarding, staff management and educator tools, helping to support schools reduce teacher churn by understanding needs and addressing the issues they face. Tes is highly acquisitive in this space with a strategy to deliver technology tools from the trusted Tes brand to improve student and educator outcomes.The successful candidate will provide financial analysis and insight to influence business stakeholders to take decisions and actions that drive the best possible outcomes in terms of profitability and support M&A and acquisition integration activities as necessary.Key role responsibilities:

  • Support the sales teams to identify, track, review and financially appraise sales opportunities
  • Report on Key Performance Indicators to drive profitable revenue growth
  • Work closely with the Data & Analytics team to drive work on improving the accuracy and efficiency of commercial reporting and analysis
  • Understand and challenge current business practice, identifying and implementing initiatives to improve processes and deliver efficiencies
  • Work with the Financial Reporting team to ensure accuracy & understanding of monthly results
  • Present monthly results to business leads, providing explanations of variances vs. budget and promoting insightful discussion on financial performance
  • Lead the budget & forecasting processes with the relevant business leads providing appropriate challenge, understanding & communication of risks, issues & opportunities
  • Support the M&A agenda through performing due diligence, reviewing outputs of diligence providers and performing analysis as required
  • Support Group-level initiatives and ad-hoc projects
  • Education and experience requirements:
  • Ability to think both analytically and strategically - to go beyond the numbers and to think logically about underlying business issues
  • Be committed and flexible in your approach to work and able to work under pressure, multi-task and prioritise work while meeting tight deadlines
  • Passionate about providing support to the business; drive and enthusiasm to use reporting to identify and deliver financial or operational improvements
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with 1+ years PQE
  • Experience of working with and analysing large data sets
  • Experience of M&A processes either in an advisory capacity or within an acquisitive business
  • Experience of working with subscriptions products/ businesses would be preferable
