Job Description

A new position is available for an experienced Class 2 Driver based in Sheffield with this established Niche freight forwarding agent are expanding and need an extra driving crew member with a clean class 2 licence/NO criminal record and a steady employment history with no gaps.Working 45 hours PW - 4 shift rotation; days, mid-morning, afternoons and evenings.Main Purpose of Job:To be a key member of the driving team assisting with the smooth-running of the company’s transport department.Compulsory checks:Due to the nature of the role there are a number of compulsory checks that must be carried out.A criminal record check - basic disclosure (DBS) carried out by the Disclosure and Barring Service.(NO criminal record essential)5-year reference history with gaps in employment scrutinised and accounted for. (Stable employment/no gaps pref).Driving licence check (Clean/max 3 points)Main Responsibilities:

  • Complete collection and delivery of freight in line with operating procedures.
  • Happy to drive Class 2 or Sprinter Van as instructed
  • Complete daily run sheet accurately and ensure the information is uploaded into the system.
  • Ensuring all goods are safely secured and paperwork is in order.
  • Adhere to Company security procedures at all times.
  • Keep allocated vehicle, clean at alltimes.
  • Perform a vehicle defect report on every company vehicle you use and hand themin.
  • Support transport and warehouse manager should they require assistance.
  • Support management to ensure we are meeting the client needs.
  • Report any issues in the transport department to your line manager.
  • Representthecompanywhenoncollectionsanddeliveriesbydemonstrating high levels of customer service and a smart appearance.
  • Adhere to the site security and health and safety regulations
  • Undertake additional duties, or assist other members of staff, as may be reasonably requested by your Manager or the Directors
  • Check the freight is correct when loaded the vehicle
  • Check off all freight collected and hand over to transport when return from the run.
  • Liaise with various security companies when making deliveries/collections to certain stores/boutiques.
  • Park the vehicles in an acceptable manner at the end of the day.
  • Pack any freight to ensure it is suitable for either road freight or airfreight.
  • Scan the POD’s as soon as delivery is made and upload accurateinformation.
  • Email or phone over accurate information once a collection has been made (seal numbers, dimensions and weight).
  • Knowledge, skills and experience required: Essential
  • Hold a full UK driving license. Class 2 essential
  • Have a good knowledge of the English language both verbal andwritten.
  • Able to prioritise and organise own workload to tight deadline.
  • Strong communication skills: The ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Be a team player in the transport team as well as working alongside other members of staff.
  • Sound knowledge of the outlook app and POD Scanning app of the smart phone supplied.
  • Smart/professional appearance.
