Job Description

A Chemical Mixer is need to start work ASAP for our client based in Sheffield.As a Chemical Mixer you will be working on the clients premises Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 4.30pm and Fridays 7.30am to 1pm.Responsibilities:

  • Measure and cut fabric to size.
  • Fit into frames and stretch.
  • Using all PPE provided: - Fume cupboard, localised extraction, Airstream Helmet, Overalls, Gloves etc.
  • Mix Silicone with Xylene into small beakers by weight. Place in speed mixer to mix.
  • Check viscosity using a viscosity meter. Adjust mixture to suit. Record results.
  • Apply a predetermined amount of mixture to one side of fabric. Eye for detail and dexterity will be required to create a smooth coat. Leave to cure in ambient racks then place in an oven.
  • Apply a second coat to opposite side. As above and cure. Apply several layers to finish.
  • A visual and weight check is then required to rate finished window. Record Results.
  • Be aware of special waste disposal of chemicals and workwear.
