Job Description

We are looking for a Catering assistant with experience for a temporary bank roleNHS Professionals are looking for reliable catering assistants to work a 6-month placement at Sheffield Childrens NHS Foundation Trust. Catering staff are responsible for preparing food in NHS hospitals and other services making sure our patients and staff have highly nutritious, high-quality food.Hours: Shifts between 8 am - 8pm Monday - Sunday on a rota basis.Payrate: £11.45 - £20.95 per hour (Shift Dependent)Youll have the following skills/experience:

  • GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English or equivalent qualification
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate required
  • Excellent customer service
  • NHS experience - desirable but not essential
  • Reliable and hard working
What youll be responsible for:
  • Preparation, packing and labelling of salads and sandwiches for patients, staff, and other customers. Sandwiches to be prepared within a fridge with cool temperatures.
  • To work closely with other Team Members to ensure high quality food is produced.
  • Responsible for the packing, sealing, and labelling of meal containers, ensuring dietary needs are catered for as required.
  • Responsible for the correct storage of food stuffs and equipment, accepting deliveries and goods as directed and as per Departmental procedure.
  • Responsible for accurately filling patient meal trolleys and baskets prior to distribution.
  • Responsible for the operation of the pot washing machines to ensure all utensils and equipment are cleaned to specified standard.
  • Carry out general and deep cleaning duties within the Department as directed by the Supervisor and as per cleaning schedules.
  • Movement of stackers, trolleys and mobile equipment as required to ensure safe and correct storage.
  • Responsible for ensuring that portion sizes, lidding and labelling is in accordance with Departmental recipes and procedures.
  • Removal and recycling of waste products as required and place waste food into bio-digesters.
