Associate R&D Tax Assistant Sheffield / Hybrid£excellent + bonus + exceptional benefits Are you a graduate looking for a new opportunity Have you considered working within R&D Tax Incentives and ReliefsHelp provide support and assistance to our consultants, managers and clients with the preparation of tax relief claims as an Associate R&D Tax Consultant here at Markel What part will you playIf youre looking for a place where you can make a meaningful difference, youve found it.The work we do at Markel gives people the confidence to move forward and seize opportunities, and youll find your fit amongst our global community of optimists and problem-solvers.Were always pushing each other to go further because we believe that when we realize our potential, we can help others reach theirs.The opportunity: The Associate R&D Tax Consultant role involves meeting with our clients or intermediaries, along with another member of the team, gathering and acquiring relevant information in order for us to help with the preparation of the clients Research & Developmenttax relief claim.We are able to offer financial support to complete a relevant tax or accountancy qualification along with relevant study and exam leave which will lead to an additional salary uplift.If youre looking to develop your career further and may have studied for either a Masters Degree or PhD in any of the Sciences, Engineering, Accountancy or Technology or you may be qualified or part qualified in tax or accountancy, then this may be therole for you!We can offer you an excellent career path within Markel Tax and the wider Markel business and support your further studies and qualifications.Our must haves:* Attending face-to-face meetings or telephone conference calls with intermediaries and/or clients in order to acquire relevant information* Detailing and analysing client R&D expenditure* Maintaining contact with clients throughout and beyond the claim process* Updating internal reporting systems as to the progress of individual claims* Assisting in the drafting of technical and financial reports of client activity for onward submission to HMRC * Assisting in the preparation of draft corporation tax computations* Highlighting to consultants where further information is required in respect of the reports or computationsWhat were looking for:* Either a Masters Degree or PhD in Sciences, Engineering or Technology OR experience working in Tax/Accountancy* Strong client facing skills and experience and the ability to discuss potentially sophisticated tax matters in a simple way* Youll have a willingness to travel across the country for meetings, covering different areas* Due to the role involving the preparation of detailed technical reports, outstanding written English skills and strong numerical competence are important.
