Summary Through involvement of volunteers and local communities, we know that we can achieve so much more to support special places. Their support is vital in helping inspire our many visitors and members, as well as working closely to deliver change in the waywe work in the natural environment. Its at the heart of the National Trust: we were founded by volunteers and they have always been part of our organisational DNA and we pride ourselves as being one of the largest and most innovative volunteer-involving organisationsin the country.Were looking for a Volunteering & Community Officer to help manage the volunteering journey and ensure that the National Trusts principles and ethos are evident in all our ways of working. What its like to work here Knole is a stunning property which boasts a 1000 acre deer park, historic showrooms with a world-class collection of paintings and furniture, sprawling courtyards, gatehouse tower and conservation studio. We are passionate about caring for this wonderfulproperty and visitors are at the heart of all we do.We are a busy team, who like a challenge and work at a fast pace. We work collaboratively with each other and thewider property andwere hands on and work together to get the job done. This post will require weekend and holiday working at our busy touristattraction.Click here for more information about this location What youll be doing Youll support managers in developing improved involvement of volunteers across the property; youll develop volunteering opportunities, matching volunteers to need; and increase opportunities to deliver the National Trust cause message.Youll be able to manage all elements of the volunteer journey from recruitment to exit and to support your colleagues in managing their own volunteers ensuring that they are well supported, trained and developed during their time with us and that ServicePromise and our Values and Behaviours are evident in everyones work.Please also read the full role profile attached to this advert. Who were looking for To deliver this role successfully, youll need to;

  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of volunteering and be enthusiastic about promoting the benefits of great volunteer involvement and opportunities
  • Be passionate and enthusiastic about working with volunteers and understand the differences between staff and volunteers, particularly the legal frameworks
  • Have excellent customer services and communication skills
  • Have a flexible approach and be a great team player, be able to lead on and work with other peoples agendas towards a common purpose
  • Be well organised and attentive to detail
  • A sound working knowledge of volunteering principles and practice
  • IT skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Knowledge and experience of budget management
