Senior Residential Care WorkerYMCA Robin Hood Group are opening a brand new Residential care home in Selby and are looking for a Lead / Senior Residential Care Worker to be part of our founding team.Are you a Team Leader in a childrens residential care home looking for a new challenge Do you want to learn therapeutic techniques and work in a trauma-informed way Are you intrigued by the difference a psychology-led service can make to severely traumatisedchildrenAs a not-for-profit operator, we put the needs of our children above profits and are proud to operate Ofsted registered homes that regularly receive good and outstanding ratings across all areas. But we are not your typical Children’s Care Home; we follow a trauma-informed therapeutic care model designed by a Consultant Psychologist specifically to support those children who have been affected by trauma, abuse or neglect. Salary: £28,500 - £41,180 Base salary (dependent on experience) £28,500 - £29,500 per annum Plus Sleep-Ins (*based on 8 sleeps in per month) - £7,680 per annumPlus performance related pay up to £4,000 per annum Benefits: Lots of great additional benefits listed towards the bottom of the advertLocations: SelbyContract Type: Full Time Permanent Hours: 40 per week Working on a rotating shift pattern which includes a paid 30 minute breakOn average you will work 7 shifts over 3 weeks. You will work a mix of days, evenings, nights, weekends and bank holidays. We also have an on-call rota and overtime is available - both within your home and to provide cover within other homes too. Lone workingmay be required including night awake shifts. What experience you need to have to become a Lead / Senior Residential Care Worker:We are looking for you to embody our YMCA Robin Hood Group core values; Honesty, Responsibility, Respect and Care. Whether your background is in children’s residential care, nursing, or as a care worker in general, previous experience of providing care is required. Ideally you will already have your level 3 Diploma for Residential Care, but if not we’d be happy to support you with this. You will be able to drive and have your own car to facilitate travelling to the different homes.You will also be happy to undertake an enhanced DBS check and register on the Update Service.We cannot pretend this is an easy job, but then nothing great ever came easy, but it is rewarding in so many ways. Training you will get when you join to ensure your able to succeed in this role:With our comprehensive induction plan, where we will spend the first 2 weeks training you fully in our therapeutic care model followed by shadow shifts in your home so you are able to follow these principles in all work you do with the children and young people.Depending on your level of experience you will then be paired with a mentor to help you succeed. If you already have your level 3 Diploma, we will support you to achieve your level 4 and 5 Diploma in Residential Care qualifications and maximise your potential within Children’s Residential Services with further career development.About your role of a Lead / Senior Residential Care Worker:Leading a team of Care Workers, you will work on shift with them to be hands-on working with the young people in our care doing the every-day tasks.But you will also be there to support the Young Person when they are in crisis. Using the theories you have been taught, you will be able to support that child as they regulate and work with them to keep them safe from harm using a wide range of techniquesand practices. This might mean sitting with a child through that crisis for hours, but your dedication to your role and to that child means you do this without a second thought. It is also critical that you are there to support your Team through this time; not only providing practical support and being 100% hands on but also being there for emotional support and reflection. Your leadership and behaviour modelling will be critical toensure you are acting as role model for your staff to mirror. De-briefs after incidents and regular supervisions are essential for learning but also to provide effective support for your team at their most vulnerable. You will share our ideas and theories that by putting the child in control, they can thrive. Working in conjunction with all the agencies, schools and other 3rd parties involved in a child’s care, you will reinforce these messages and advocate for the bestinterest of the child.
