Job Description

Senior Civil Engineer9 Month ContractSelbyOn Site WorkingWe are happy to be recruiting for one of our high-profile utilities clients. They are currently looking for Senior Civil Engineers to join them for a 9 month contract. However, there may be scope for extension.Role Purpose:Manage the demolition and the reconstruction of a high level reinforced concrete chimney stub at the Power station.Works will be approximately 260m from the ground, so applicants must not have a fear of heights. The role will require competence and relevant experience to review risk assessments, method statements and supervision of onsite works with the ability to interpretand read construction drawings.Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:Must Haves:

  • Exceptional safety culture, ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations/site rules at all times
  • Previous experience managing projects that involve working at height, temporary works and lifting
  • Previous experience managing Subcontractors.
  • Ability to read construction drawings.
  • Ability to read construction programmes.
  • In situ-concrete construction experience
  • Demolition experience
  • Ability to perform quality/progress checks
  • Ability to work independently reporting to Team Manager ensuring daily records (including daily diaries and safety audits) are maintained and filed within the company filing system
  • Ability to perform equipment, material, and routine site inspections
  • Attend coordination and progress meeting
  • Ability to focus and keep calm under pressure
  • Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering or Safety management
  • EMSS Safety Passport
  • NEBOSH, IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent
Desirable:
  • SSSTS
  • Temporary Works Supervisor
  • IT proficient - ability to use Microsoft Office packages (word, excel, outlook)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Great time management and problem-solving skills
