Residential Care Worker Waking NightsWe are looking for Waking Nights staff to join us as a Therapeutic Residential Care Worker looking after children aged between 5-17 years old in our Nottingham based homes.Working 10pm – 8.30am on a scheduled rota pattern, you will provide valuable support to our home and be a valued member of our team.YMCA Robin Hood Group believe everyone should have a fair chance to discover who they are and what they can become. There is the opportunity for overtime if desired and/or shifts in other homes providing you variety and different challenges.What experience you need to have to become a Therapeutic Residential Care Worker:You will ideally be experienced working in a social care capacity. Mostly importantly, you will be a resilient, positive and passionate individual about looking after children. Some of our children can be very challenging and have experienced terrible traumasmeaning night-time are especially triggering for them. Your calm, understanding and patient nature will give them reassurance, safety and most importantly a friendly face.Ideally you will have had some understanding of trauma-informed therapeutic practice, but what is more important is that we are looking for you to embody our YMCA Robin Hood Group core values; Honesty, Responsibility, Respect and Care. Training you will get when you join to ensure your able to succeed in this role:With our comprehensive induction plan, where we will spend the first 2 weeks training you fully in our therapeutic care model followed by shadow shifts in your home so you are able to follow these principles in all work you do with the children and young people.Depending on your level of experience you will then be paired with a mentor to help you succeed. If you are looking for career progression, we are very keen to support and develop our employees with ongoing training and qualification. We will support you to achieve your level 3, 4 or 5 Diploma in Residential Care qualifications.About the role of a Therapeutic Residential Care Worker:We are looking for Residential Night Residential Care Workers to join our team to provide the highest levels of care 24/7. As a Therapeutic Residential Care Worker you will provide support and care overnight, being a calm and reassuring presence to ensure the young people in our care remain safe and their individual needs met overnight.Remaining awake through-out your shift, you continue the therapeutic style of care, ready to support the young person, especially if they are in crisis. Using the theories you have been taught, you will be able to support that child as they regulate and workwith them to keep them safe from harm using a wide range of techniques and practices. This might mean sitting with a child through that crisis for hours, but your dedication to your role and to that child means you do this without a second thought. Having the child at the centre of all we do is critically important to us; we involve the child in their care plan, their risk assessments, their communication plan.
